Dress The Best for Your Body Type

We are all guilty of this: seeing someone wearing something hot and thinking we can pull it off, or being in a store and falling in love with something even though it doesn't really work on our body type. It can be super frustrating and dissapointing. However if you recognize your body type and how to dress for it, it will make the shopping experience that much easier and more enjoyable. No more crying in the dressing room corner until a sales girl finally has to ask you to leave!

A Body Type
This body type just means that your body forms an "A", smaller on top bigger on the bottom. If you hate your hips there are tricks of the trade to minimize this and look more proportioned. Blazers, cardigans etc. are your friends but the length has to be just right!! This is important. The lenghth should hit you an right in the middle of your biggest part. Many people think you should hide yourself but that can actually make u look bigger. You can wear skinny jeans, you just have to balance out the top. If you are sick of blazers etc. try dresses that float away from your hips but sinch at the waist or even bootleg jeans. Look at Rihanna for inspiration
V-Frame
Broad shoulders and small hips, the solution is very similar to that of an a shape. This time instead of diminish hips you are trying to create them. Anything that will sinch your waist and float away from your body will be your best friend. It will even you out. Do not wear everything tight and long its not going to work. You have to be careful with your hemline. Stick with a shorter hemline, the longer you go the more it stretches out your body and draws attention to the biggest part of you which is your shoulders. If You want to wear a mini skirt pair it with a blouson top. Careful of anything with puffy sleeves or shoulder pads. These will just make you look like you are about to tackle someone on the football field.
Ruler Body Frame
Your body goes straight up and down with no shape so to create that try high waisted belts and cinched waists. Stay away from shift dresses and baggy clothing; it will make you look dumpy. I know it can be a hassle wearing belts all the time so try tops that have a built in waist line then pair with pants. Just make sure that there is some sort of structure in the top. Try skirts or dresses with volume. Pleats, shredded chiffon, feathers; materials with movement and little flare will help camoflauge. This one is pretty simple because you are just creating shape and not trying to hide anything. Consider yourself lucky.
Hourglass Frame
You have the most covited body type.Look to Kim Kardashian for inspiration just don't get stuck in her rut. Also be careful of materials that will make you look bigger. Shift dresses again while comfy are not your friend. You will lose your shape and make you look bigger then you actually are. Because you are so in proportion you have to emphasize that at all times otherwise you will just be creating problems for yourself. If your feeling a little shy and you dont want to wear something fitted you can do a baggy t just pair with a fitted cardigan and jeans to still keep your shape but feel comfy
Diamond Frame
Carrying a lil extra in the mid section? No problem! By now you can tell I am fan of the blazer cardigan thing. Not only does a third piece make you look more polished it also does a great deal of hiding. Especially for this body type.  A blazer or cardigan will disguise some of the extra weight and hide a lil muffin. Pair with an empire waist top or dress of the same nature and you will lose about ten pounds.
Oval Frame
In this scenario. Choose tops that will float away from the body but stop at the waist. You dont want to try high waisted belts or anything like that as you will creat un wanted bulge. Use soft drapey fabrics with your third piece that skim away from the body, as well as stuctured pieces that have some flare at the bottom to give you that hourglass shape. Look for darting in your blazers that will creat the illusion of shape without it actually being there

To sum up. Just recognize what you can and canot do. Don't try to fit into some trend that doesn't work for your body because lets face it that trend will be gone in a week and you can spare yourself the frustration and embarassment. I know it seems the solution to every problem is a belt or a blazer but it really is. They are your friends. They do dual purpose. They can hide what needs to be hidden and create what's not there. What you put on, is what you are saying about yourself. So when you get dressed in the morning think about that. We all have those days when you think "Ugh! I dont care" but remember everyone else can see that as well. That is why always have an outfit that makes you feel like you are wearing sweats but actually makes you look like a million bucks. Go for fabrics that make you feel good and things that make you smile. For more information and inspiration try reading:
